Well it's official! The 2010 running of the ProChoice Safety Gear Burleigh Ocean Challenge has proven to a huge success and every bit as safe, fun and exciting as we could have possibly have hoped for. We have had such an amazing time developing it, and now finally the thrill of putting the two days on, seeing each event run and so many people taking part and loving it, what can we say - it's clear that everyone involved had a great time, we certainly did.
Sunday the 24th of October 2010 was the inaugural staging of this premier series of paddle sport events, which established what is now set to be one of the nations leading paddle sport calendar offerings, and we could not be more grateful for the awesome support we've had, and we could not be more proud of what we've acheived this year.
As an integral part of the Australian Ocean Racing Series (AORS) run by OceanPaddler, the Burleigh Ocean Challen was developed from the ground up, from scratch, to offer all paddlers (Ski, OC, SUP, Kayak, Paddle Board and Nipper Board) at every level, the opportunity to participate in a fun, family friendly, safe, yet challenging race event, run to world standards. We have certainly realised that dream in every possible way. And each year now it can only get bigger and better.
The feedback has been amazing!
Honestly, what an amazing two days it's been, and based on the deluge of emails, calls and SMS's over night, feedback on the beach each day, and now the flood of great response we've been getting - its more than clear everyone had a great time and enjoyed the race events, either as a competitor, or as a spectator. We certainly did.
The feedback really has been fantastic, thank you all for your emails, SMS's and phone calls - they are all very greatly appreciated. Keep them coming. We'd love to hear what you think about the weekend. Nothing aids the recovery from months and months of lead up work and three days back to back on Friday, Saturday and Sunday making it all run like clockwork, than a short email saying you had a great time and will be back next year ;-)
Simply put, thank you everyone for your massive support!
How do we thank so many people?
We would like to say thank you to so many people, and we will keep posting updates over the next few days with photos and stories from the weekend. But a most heart felt and most sincere thank you to both everyone who came and supported the inaugral running of the Burleigh Ocean Challenge, and to everyone who helped make it happen.
The true spirit of paddle sporting events was on show at the Burleigh Ocean Challenge, and so thank you to all who took part in some way, not just over the weekend, but over the many weeks leading up to the weekend, especially to the surf club for hosting the events and the amazing support form the entire club, and it goes without saying but we'll say it anyway - a big thank you goes out to our fantastic sponsors, without whom these events simply would not be possible.
