The 2010 running of the ProChoice Safety Gear Burleigh Ocean Challenge has now completed. These events are now closed and run. Now's the time to start your training regime and planning for the 2011 staging of the Burleigh Ocean Challenge. If you made it this year, thanks for your support and we trust you had a fantastic time. If you didn't make it, we're sorry we didn't see you this time around, we trust you'll be in training now for a year to prepare for it in 2011 and that we'll see you there and we can count on your support next year.

Race 1: XCEL SURFCRAFT Malibu/Nipper Board Challenge
Course: 2km Loop out from Burleigh Heads SLSC and back Format: standard beach group beach start, single loop of course “out and back”. Participants: U11, U12, and U13 nippers ( male & female ). Staggered starts at 2 min intervals. Age Groups as per SLSC Rules.
Course: 3km Loop out from Burleigh Heads SLSC and back Format: standard beach group beach start, single loop of course “out and back”.
Participants: U14, U15 and U17 ( male & female ). Staggered starts at 2 min intervals. Age Groups as per SLSC Rules. Course: 6km Triangle Loop from Burleigh Heads SLSC to Miami and Back Format: standard beach group beach start, single loop of course “out and back”. Participants: U19 and Open ( male & female ). Staggered starts at 2 min intervals. Age Groups as per SLSC Rules.

Race 2: Triangle Loop - ProChoice Safety Gear Short Course EventCourse: 6km Triangle Loop from Burleigh Heads SLSC to Miami and Back Short Course Map ( 6km course indicated in RED ): THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED AND HAS BEEN RUN..
Format: standard group beach start (excluding outriggers who will have a water start), single loop of course “out and back”. Staggered Starts at 2min intervals for each paddle craft type. Time: 11:30am Participants: Ocean Skis, Spec Skis, Outriggers, SUP's and Ocean Paddle Boards. Suited to paddlers of beginer to intermediate level who prefer to take part in a shorter event in a safe environment.
Race 3: ProChoice Safety Gear Burleigh Heads Downwind – Premium Event
Course: Down wind format 20-25km ocean course Northerly Long Course alternative ( depending on conditions ):

Southerly Long Course alternative ( depending on conditions ):
Format: A long haul down wind open ocean race held on either Kingscliff (southerly wind) or Gold Coast Seaway (northely wind) - depending on conditions. In the event of a straight easterly or westerly wind the course will be 3 loops of the short course loop with portages for ocean skis on each lap. Start will be a water start between 2 starting buoys. Time: 1:00 pm - meet and greet at start location.
Overview: This is the main event, tailored to provide world class racing for both the intermediate to advanced “punter” as well as some of the worlds fittest athletes and Olympians.
Race 4: Vajda Kayaks Tripple Sprint Eliminator – Ocean Skis
THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED AND HAS BEEN RUN.. Course: 3 times short sprint in from approximately 300-400m offshore in a knockout format Format: Multi heat elimination, top 12 in first round eliminate 4 competitors each time. Final 4 Competitors race off for the Cash! Time: after the main event (3:45 approx) Overview: Elimination will be suited so that heat, semi and final can be conducted to allow for maximum spectator appeal and exposure for sponsors in the beautiful Burleigh location. Enjoy the party and watch some of the world's best paddlers duke it out! Watch out for additional "wild card" sprint specialist entrants in the first round and see how they fare against the champions from the main race!
